Note on Methodology



Note:   In the system of esoteric astrology that I have developed, positions of the planets are related as directly to the Sun as possible.   I take note of heliocentric planetary Nodes and planetary Heliocosms within 3° orb. in relation to the orthodox placement of planets.
The foundation for this methodology is based upon reasonable correspondences to the Three Motions discussed in Esoteric Psychology — Forward, Spiral-Cyclic, and Rotary-Orbital.
Esoteric Astrology is meant to be proactive more than interpretive, observing the ongoing impacts and effects of these planetary cycles within one's work and life.   Therefore simplicity is emphasized in observing and The Three Crosses are brought out by the heliocentric planetary nodal placements for this epoch.   The Fixed signs are thus emphasized, indicating the general social evolution of humanity and its challenges at this point in history.

1.   Planetary Nodes (heliocentric) — show the very long-period trends in human history, and are found in the subtle and intangible planetary purposes that motivate individuals who have planetary work and a planetary impact.
2.   Heliocosms ® are the planetary cycles represented by the series of the Sun's conjunction with each of the planets.   These I indicate by the colored glyphs you can see in the filled-out charts.   I use one full cycle of planetary conjunctions with the Sun (Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Trigon) in any given chart.
3.   Orthodox planetary positions in the 12 zodiacal signs and chosen house system.

Three Axes are related to the Three Crosses — Mutable, Fixed, Cardinal.

1.   Ascendant/ Descendant Axis — Planetary Nodes are associated with the Superconsciousness or Collective Unconscious (the subliminally present history of the human race) in relation to the soul's purpose in any one lifetime.   This axis is related to group consciousness and team orientation in planetary projects.   I associate the Ascendant or Rising Sign with the project (or redemption) of the individualized soul in this lifetime.   It can also be seen as 'personal appearances' and the unreliable shadow of work and realization not yet fully accomplished by the soul (manomayavijnana) or nondual monad .
2,   Sun/Earth Axis — The Personality (Sun) and process of ego-formation (self conditioning and environmental assumptions) is directed by both the spiritual monad (Earth) and the individual intelligent self consciousness (Sun).   The sign opposite to the Sun represents a 'shadow' persona of factors that have not been integrated.   This shadow dissipates as the spirit aspect or monad takes charge of the 'personality mechanism'.   Inherited Personality desires, fixations, attachments, and predispositions are traditionally governed by the Moon and Lunar Nodes.
3.   Lunar Nodal Axis — This axis indicates the door opening into relationship with the public, or mass consciousness, at large.   It is related to the Subconscious — genetic subconscious (4th house), individually or personally conditioned subconscious (8th house), and collective unconscious impact (12th house Pisces).   The lunar nodes are dynamically present in the charts of public figures, qualified and colored by planetary and heliocosm positions.

It is quite difficult to determine mind/heart/consciousness capacity, but nature, quality and biases of mind are revealed by the positions of Mercury, Venus, and Mars.     [ Please take note of the table of correspondences for which this is a comment. ]

Note:   Group 4 falls into the purview of psychological analysis.   It represents the group of mass conscious individuals who have not yet developed a clear autonomous or individualized self-consciousness.   Everything is taken for granted with little inquiry or perceived need for questioning.   There can be an 'anti-intellectual' resistance to reflection, self-observation, and questioning of events and circumstances.   There is no real reflective thinking ability due to immersion in emotional reactivity.   'Attitude' suffices to substitute for reason and true thought.   Vernacular usage of the word 'thinking' in this case refers to interminable struggles and conflicts related to attempted rationalizations of attitudes based on unexamined past conditioning.   Therefore esoteric astrology has little to offer this group of nascent and embryonic souls.   Orthodox astrology falls into the role of reassurance with this group, 'holding hands' step by step.

Groups 5 & 6 — Orthodox Psychological Astrology suffices for the awakening and integrating Personality.
Groups 7 & 8 — Heliocentric Mercury-Venus-Mars by Sign and Position, with any attendant Heliocosm (spiral-cyclic) positions indicate the resources of the Threefold Mind or Soul in the causal body taking incarnation.   This relates to the life of meditation, study, and humanitarian service.   Jupiter relates more directly to evolution of consciousness and sequential revelation of the greater collective life.
Groups 7, 8 & 9 — Planetary Node positions (heliocentric here) indicate Collective Unconscious (historical) conditioning and subtle motivations and directions which are related to the planetary Life.
On a 'higher' or international and planetary level, it can be said that the individual uses the direction of the planetary nodes consciously or is driven unconsciously by them in the all-encompassing planetary LIFE.

This is more clearly seen in political and governmental actors, where undeveloped (even mediocre) individuals are called upon to rule, govern, and build.   This human problem should be clear.   I hope the charts filed under Nations make this somewhat clearer.
For instance the chart of Vladimir Putin (and many others to be found in this collection of charts) is filled with the signs Libra and Scorpio which govern the "reversal of the wheel" from personality ambition to spiritual and humanitarian aspiration.   During the "reversal of the Wheel" it is sometimes difficult to determine whether Libra is taking on a new Scorpio responsibility, or whether Scorpio is coming to the bitter end of its self-interest.   In other words this individual is struggling albeit unwittingly to recognize the nature of the individualized human soul and to live aligned with its laws and norms.   Many of these individuals are just beginning to take the first initiation into soul awareness and life.   This explains somewhat the tendency to indulge unexamined ego conditioning in the rush to achieve limited personality goals, while rationalizing these goals as something much more significant nationally and internationally.
It is said that the present interim period between Piscean and Aquarian precessional ages is ruled by LIBRA.   Humanity is said to be on the Probationary Path ruled by Libra.   The masses are said to be found in the Scales (Libra) and intelligentsia, disciples and initiates are governed by Scorpio.   This might help explain the contradictions found in Putin's psychology.
Nota bene:   All effective initiation, initiative, discipline, responsibility and recognition of authority are self-imposed.

Everything that exists in our human world is created by or constitutes a projection of the human mind.
We are moving from mass consciousness, to individualized self-consciousness, and increasingly toward group consciousness.

A Comment on strata and realms of Contact, Interaction and Relationship (reflecting my attempt to bridge language used by traditional Buddhism and the western esoteric traditions):

Outer/Conventional — what it says.
Inner/Psychological — the inwardly perceived life of physical, emotional and mental predispositions and activities.
Esoteric — the world of uncommonly perceived subtle phenomena, individual, social, and planetary.
Secret — the world of psychological insights and revelations that are meant for those prepared to receive it, self-secret to the mentally and spiritually unprepared, guarded and dispensed by wisdom
Occult/Innermost Secret — the world of nondual perception, direct experience, and awareness that has no human language to communicate – ineffable – but can occasionally be 'pointed out'.
