The Capricorn/Aquarius Transition

The Transition from Capricorn to Aquarius

The �Bias of Expectation� is that life and large social circumstances � laws/norms/rules � will not change.
This is associated more with Scorpio (than with Capricorn?) and its necessity for continuous self-discipline while in an animal body ruled by the autonomic and ancient reptilian brain and instincts associated with �self�-survival.   This is the reason why we as humans, and all optimally functioning systemic entities, are denominated �dragons.�   But this Bias is also relevant to Capricorn instincts of social and collective survival.   It is the drive and Saturnian determination (proto-will) to maintain an external homeostasis that parallels that of the human animal organism�s instinct to survive external assaults through balanced responses (Libra), both internal and external.   Externally this is accomplished by laws/norms/rules that increase, temper, and refine intelligent apprehension and response, and intensify and inevitably broaden consciousness.

This drive to maintain circumstantial and social/collective homeostasis and optimal functioning (from varying points of view) is what establishes the value of personal norms and regimens as well as social legal systems and regimes.   It is a clich� that in Capricorn, whatever the aim and orientation �high or low� this drive to conform to disciplined regimens for survival of external forms for life make the entity vulnerable to crystallization and shattering of those forms by Life itself.   This is one of the roles of Aquarius and Uranus, the spirit aspect behind the form (or mind).

All the above observations illustrate the sequence and relationships of Libra-Scorpio-Sagittarius-Capricorn-Aquarius.

�Scorpio stages the release of Leo� and �Capricorn consummates the work of Scorpio.�   These mottos (EA 332-3) associated with human evolution through three very basic and general stages of development within each sign, express the long-term direction of Humanity as a whole and as a unit.   They denote the planetary and solar context and purpose for the transition from the 4th to the 5th Kingdom in nature.   This recognition discloses a portion of the reasons humanity is vulnerable to the reptilian brain and its associated instincts, and why the term �dragon� is so evocative of humanity in a higher sense (as �reptile, �viper�, and �snake-pit� are so expressive in a lower sense).   This is one of the first reasons Capricorn is considered the most mysterious of the signs so far as humanity is concerned and discloses one of the first meanings of the mysterious name Makara, associated with the Five Kumaras.

These are some of the reasons Capricorn rules the established status quo, along with the Grand Trigon (20-year Saturn-Jupiter conjunctions), and Sagittarius and Aquarius.   The latter are related through Jupiter to the Grand Trigon, the first clue in any chart of the relevance of and relationship to the established personal and social order, and to Uranus which brings innovation and intelligent response as well as a challenge or shattering of outworn orders and forms if the resistance built up is sufficient.   We will see this expressed in a dramatic way on a planetary level, particularly in relation to the United States this year (2012).   The Trigon rules the personality level of Leo, Uranus the hierarchical or collective level, with Neptune the Heart of the Sun governing the soul in the middle � this in the sign of Leo ruling the evolution of consciousness down to the level of the individualized unit.

International Implications

We now have Pluto in Capricorn until 2022 — Pluto in Aquarius from 2022 to 2042, and Pluto in Pisces from 2042 to 2066, close to the Grand Trigons of 2020, 2040, and 2060 — in 0° Aquarius, 17° Libra, and 0° Gemini respectively.   This is particularly relevant to the U.S., ruled by an Aquarian soul and Gemini personality.   The Grand Trigon of 2040 suggests the Libran transition period of 500 years between Piscean and Aquarian Ages.   The Grand Trigon arrives at 14° Gemini in 2119 and at 23° Gemini in 2179.   Both times, the perihelion of Mercury will be at 19° Gemini.   Perhaps at these times we will begin to see a growth in Humanity's understanding of the principle of Brotherhood to include more than just the human realm — the planetary Life.

Pluto in Capricorn/Aquarius is also related to Aquarian Russia, Holland (present-day Maastricht) and Capricorn Finland on the soul level, and to Aquarius Switzerland and Capricorn Japan, Australia, India, Spain, Greece and Austria on the personality level.   The implications seem quite clear with the imminent shift of national reserve currencies from the US Dollar to a diversified currency portfolio throughout the world.

In the booklet, America: A Reference Archive of Foundational Events, it should have become clear that Pluto in Capricorn presided over the period of destabilization and stress (1762-1776/8), while its transfer to Aquarius brought America�s soul crisis and the more or less immediate establishment of its systemic institutions and national viability (1777-1795).   We witnessed a similar period in the 1500s, and will again in the 2200s (2215-2295, focusing on 2269-2288).   The following three charts help track the Capricorn-Aquarius transition.

They also contain major Gemini ingresses, a bias toward the U.S. in one sense, but toward the principles of Brotherhood and the Family of Humanity in a planetary sense.   Gemini rules 'Britain' and New Zealand on soul, and the United States, Poland and Belgium (disputed Maastricht) on personality levels.   Gemini also rules Brussels (and London) which suggests a more intelligent Federation of older and more mature nations contrasting the so-called �Republican� stasis of the presently isolationist and warring states of the U.S.   Just imagine the inane concept of a philosophical �republic� that hates (the appropriate word) government, structural limits/regulations, human norms, and integrity!   (Hopefully for us Yanks, this is not a terminal disease.)

In the above charts from America: A Reference Archive of Foundational Events, it should be clear that the U.S. faces an overhaul in identity and in self-government.   �Corporate Persons� do not seem to have any degree of consciousness, self-possession, conscience, or understanding of the need for self-discipline in a group of their �Peers.�   Could America�s basic and somewhat un-self-conscious religious and ideological fanaticism, despite its espoused ideals of freedom of religion and speech, combining with the insatiable degree of its �corporate persons� suggest the Whore of Babylon mentioned in the Christian Bible (the apocalyptic St. John).   Let�s just remember that Armageddon is a continuous state.
